Usually going to Pax Australia is a big deal for me. I would have to save up for the ticket, which my friend would graciously allow me to pay them back. I would then need to save up so I could afford parking and food so when I was told I could get a Media Pass which meant I wouldn’t need to pay for entry, I was floored. That was a thing?
Thanks to David Smith from Kotaku and two of the FFXIV PR team at Double Jump, I was able to go. Did I feel out of place? Yup. Did I feel like I didn’t belong amongst the media? Absolutely. Did I expect them to kick me out at any point? Hell yeah! Instead, i got to check out the FFXIV raid and I was able to go through all the indies, which is my favourite part of Pax. I asked David if I could cover all the indies, to which he refused and I understood why, but was still disappointed. Anyway, it ended up an article on Kotaku.
