I often love weird horror games based on mythology from other countries. Incantation is a Chinese horror game about a mother searching for her daughter Mia. Six years ago, Mia was admitted into the hospital for the treatment of ulcers that appeared on her body. She was never discharged and went missing from the hospital. Her mother has been searching for Mia ever since she went missing. No one believed that her child was still alive, but she wouldn’t give up hope. One day, a letter arrived saying that Mia is in Chen Village. A remote village that no one wants to go to, only Officer Will is willing to help the poor mother search. Unfortunately, the two end up in an accident upon approaching the village. The mother wakes up alone and is set to check out the village herself to try and find both Officer Will and Mia. But there’s something strange about the village. What secrets are hidden in the mountains?
Incantation is an interesting game. It looks like there are some stealth elements in it, but I wasn’t able to find out as I ended up breaking the demo not far in. It was maybe for the best as I am nursing a killer headache due to sim sickness, possibly because there are no accessibility options in the game. Which is a pity because it seems like it could be quite different. Ah well.
