What is This? A Review for Ants?

I honestly don’t have enough of an opinion to write about these in their own blog posts, so they’re being stuck together in here.

Ten Thousand Coins: The Golden Merchant

I had a feeling when I downloaded this that I would probably be bad at it. I still wanted to try it, so away I went. Ten Thousand Coins’ demo is only an alpha demo, but it honestly looks good for alpha! Players take control of the fox girl as she learns the ropes of being a merchant from their master. This involves trading items from one person, travelling to another town and trading that item to the people in town. It’s worth noting who wants what in which town in order to maximise profit. Travelling takes time though, and it can also lead to fights with bandits or wildlife. It’s possible to barter your way out of an encounter, but sometimes you need to fight with the items you have on hand. Whether used for defence or offense, items need to be retrieved after use.
I’m so good at games that I chose to trade for a luxury item which became completely useless in the town I was in. With the time that travelling takes, I didn’t feel confident enough to go to another location and even then, the two smaller towns probably had even less use for a luxury item. I played myself after they gave me control after the tutorial.

Lost but Found

Play as a person running the airports lost and found counter. Place items on the table and give them to the person that comes looking for them. Don’t have the item? Take down their number and they can be called later to collect it. Beware though, as people will pay you for returning their items, and for some, that’s easy money. Click on the would-be thieves’ heads though and they’ll leave you alone.
At the end of the day, players can buy upgrades with the money they earned from returning items. These items and upgrades do various things, but I wasn’t able to make them work when I played.
It’s very cute but at this point in time, there isn’t a lot to it. It sounds like their plan is to add a lot more content to the game, which I hope they manage, because it’s a bit meh right now.

Mystopia

This is a cute building game, but similar to Islands and Trains, it has no goals or time limits. It was kind of fun, but like a fidget toy fun. It’s interesting when there isn’t something else to do.
The game gives you blocks and items to place on the playing field. Eventually you get a cauldron which allows players to make potions. Ground blocks can be stacked. It’s a neat idea, but it’s really not for me. I definitely need some can of objective to accomplish.
