I like trains. I really do. When I finished High school, I was recreating a train in Maya the 3D program. I never finished it, and it’s now lost to the ether. Oh well. I downloaded this on a whim because it looked cute.

Islands and Trains is a diorama builder, like Tiny Glade. There’s no real direction. The players are given a quick tutorial and set loose to create the islands, towns and places of their dreams.
While I understand the appeal of these games and I don’t mind them, I really need some kind of goal to keep me engaged. While others may find the lack of restrictions liberating, I tend to find it demotivating. I’ll make something nice, sure, but I probably won’t come back to it unless I absolutely needed a diorama for something.
Not for me, but if you enjoy this sort of thing, you’ll love it.
